Music Ministry
Colossians 3:16 "Let
the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and
admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."

The Music Program at Tucson Baptist Temple seeks to offer God-honoring
Christ-centered, Holy Spirit inspired, and Bible based hymns and songs of
praise. Our music ministry extends to all ages including groups such as:
Kid's 4 Christ, Teen Choir, Adult Sanctuary Choir, Hand-Bell Choir, and a
newly formed Orchestra. Our desire is that the music presented will bring
honor to the Lord, and in so doing, bless the hearts of each one present.
MISSION STATEMENT
We,
the Department of Music at Tucson Baptist Temple, exist for the
purpose of leading our congregation to a point where they are
motivated to genuinely sing from their hearts and focus in their
minds on the goodness of our God and Savior. In doing so, participants are
eager for the preaching of the Word of God. We strive to
present music that exalts the name of Jesus Christ, focuses on the
cross upon which He died, proclaims that He has risen from the dead,
and testifies that He is preparing a heavenly home for those who
have and will put their trust in Him as Savior and Lord. Ephesians
5:19 "Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;"
MUSIC
PHILOSOPHY
At TBT, we trust that you will find that the music is (1) Biblically
based and doctrinally sound,
heart warming and uplifting. We believe that music that is properly
presented with a contrite spirit will yield the byproduct of a people hungry for the Word to be taught and
preached. Music is a means of expression from the heart of man to the heart of
God.
Music is a powerful creation of God. TBT desires to use music to
praise and glorify God. At TBT our praise comes in a variety of forms
to fit all tastes. Here are just a few, all of which anyone can
participate in:

Adrian
& Pam Reed
After months of praying for a new music
director for Tucson Baptist Temple, the Lord has sent a special
family our way. The Reed family--Adrian and Pam; daughter, Julie
(19); and son, Justin (12); came from Temple Baptist Church of Forth
Worth, Texas, where they served as assistant pstor for the past
nine years. During that same period, Pam also served as the President's secretary at
Arlington Bible College. Prior to that, they served for 17 years at
the Bible Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, Texas. They were
directors of Bible Baptist School, where their first daughter,
Jennifer, attended K-12th grades. At Bible, Adrian and Pam directed
the music program and were youth directors.
Scott
Taylor, organist
TBT organist, Scott Taylor, is a
man of many talents, and is an asset to the ministry of Tucson Baptist
Temple.
Scott was born and raised in Illinois. Age six was an important year for
him, for that was the year he accepted Christ, and the year he began
taking piano lessons. He started playing the organ at age nine.
In 1969
Scott's family moved to Tucson, and he entered the U of A. Along with a
love for music, Scott also discovered a love for learning and teaching. He
holds a BA in Math theory, an MA in Political Science,
a Master's degree in Business Administration, and a Juris Doctor (law)
degree. He is a professor at the U of A and Pima Community College (he has
also taught at ASU) and is working on a PhD. He has played the organ, and
specials on the piano, at TBT since 1993.
Martha
Winans, pianist
Martha is a woman blessed
with a wonderful gift of music. She has bee playing piano at the
Tucson Baptist Temple for 30 years! A number of her piano students have
moved on to become pianists in other ministries.
Martha
was born and raised in Fillmore, New York-- the "baby" in a farming family
with 12 children. She accepted Christ as a teenager. She graduated with
honors from Fillmore High School, and was the recipient of the school's I
Dare You award.
Martha
met her husband, Lee Roy, at a Fillmore restaurant. They were married October
6, 1956, and moved to Arizona, where he was employed. The Lord blessed
them with twin sons, Dennis and Tommy; and one daughter, Lori. They now
have nine grandchildren. Martha is a homemaker with a variety of job
titles. She loves to paint, teach piano, and study the Bible. Since the
children left home she has completed several courses from Liberty
University, including The Complete Bible Course and Lay Counseling
Course.
The
Lord has blessed Martha through her service to Him. Many times through
the years, she has claimed His promise found in Phil. 4:13, "I can do all
things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Martha counts it a joy to
be able to serve the Lord at the piano. We count it a joy to be blessed
by her music over and over again.
